Brand - John Hagarty

Condition - In very good vintage condition.

This gorgeous vintage maxi dress is from Irish fashion designer John Hagarty, most popular in the 1960s & 70s. He operated his original boutique from Clarendon street in Dublin, which was situated right next to the famous Dandelion Market fashion hub.

Almost every surviving archival piece of his is relatively rare today because they were always part of limited small batch runs due to the handwoven feature of his business. His focus was very much on high-quality, artisanal craftsmanship over volume mass production.

This piece is a maxi dress made from 100% pure new wool, handwoven Irish Tweed.

In a lovely jade green shade with green teal & yellow stripe pattern.

It is collared and fastens down the bodice with buttons.

It also has a zip fastening to the side of the dress.

The bodice is slightly oversized in relation to the waist.

It has long sleeves that fasten at the cuffs with a button.

With the original tie fastening belt at the waist. There are no belt loops so it does just sit onthe waist. You could also put it under the collar and use it as a pussy bow tie.

It is maxi in length and unlined.

It is labelled as a size 16 but it is measuring to more of a size 10/12 with the waist.

Please note that the dress is being shown pinned to fit the mannequin.

Vintage sizes often come up smaller than modern day sizes. For this reason we measure each of our garments and estimate the modern day size of it based on today's fashion industry standards.

Chest - 38-40"

Waist -  30"

Hips - Free

Length - 56" shoulder to hem
